Communism in Nepal

United Left Front, an alliance of communist parties who opposed the authocratic regime in Nepal. ULF was formed in 1990. It conducted joint movement together with the Nepali Congress. The uprising, called Jana Andolan (People's Movement) brought to an end of monarchic dictatorship and led the way for multiparty elections.

Following the abolishment of democratic rule in 2002, five minor left parties have mobilized a United Left Front (Nepal) (2002) As four of them merged into two parties in 2005, this organisation now consists of three parties.
