Unique Development Studios (or UDS) was a video and computer game developer founded in 1993 and was based in Norrköping and Gothenburg, Sweden. They wanted to find skilled and motivated programmers and artists to develop some great games for Microsoft Windows and video game consoles. The company declared bankruptcy in 2004 and shut down.
History
UDS was a video game development company founded in 1993 by Michael Brunnström and Peter Zetterberg. Their first game was Obsession, a pinball game for the Atari ST released in 1994 (later ported to the Amiga). In 1995 they released their second game, Substation for the Atari STE, a first-person shooter similar to Doom. Since then they became a developer for video game consoles and PC compatibles.
In 2000, the company purchased King of the Jungle, based out of London, which developed games such as Grooverider: Slot Car Thunder and Invasion from Beyond.
In 2004, UDS was shut down, most likely due to a number of unsuccessful games that were released.
