Ugetsu Hakua

Ugetsu Hakua (白亜 右月 Hakua Ugetsu, born August 12, 1970), is a Japanese artist best known as the conceptual character designer for Burst Angel.[1] More recently, though, he created the main character designs for the anime The Tower of Druaga. Apart from that, he has worked on the visual novel games Magical Girl AI and Samurai Jupiter. He publishes doujinshi under the doujin circle name Yellow Tag.

Biography

Hakua attended Kyushu Industrial University after graduating high school, majoring in Industrial Design. After 5 years he left without a degree.

In 1995, he began working at the Fukuoka residence at Tokyo game company doing conceptual design. It was also around this time that he adopted his pen name, "白亜 右月" which translated to English means “chalkstone right month”. At the end of 2000 he moved to Tokyo.

On April 6, 2004, the anime series Burst Angel premiered on Japanese television, broadcast by Asahi National Broadcasting Company. It was broadcast from April 2004 to September of the same year. In the spring of 2005, vol. 1 DVD was released in Japan.

Coinciding with this was the release of Ugetsu Hakua WORKS Flamboyant in April 2005. This was his first solo illustrations book, mainly representing his work for the Burst Angel series. Also included in the book were other character concepts and recreations of other artists character designs.
