USS Ariel (1813)

The 'USS Ariel was a 75-ton clipper schooner built on Lake Erie in 1813. She was armed with 4 long 12 pounder cannons mounted on pivots. One cannon was forward of the foremast, two were between the masts, and one was abaft the main. The "Ariel" was undoubtedly present at the Battle of Lake Erie. The "Ariel" was very sharp and had a reputation for speed. She as wrecked in 1814. [1]
