U.S. Rail Corporation (reporting mark USRC) is a family-owned short-line railroad operating two railroads in Ohio, and one in Indiana.[1] It is based in Toledo, Ohio.
Divisions
Brookhaven
Operating in Brookhaven, New York.
Hamilton
Located in Hamilton, Ohio, the line is operated for the SMART Paper Corporation and interchanges with CSXT. Other products carried include coal, paper, chemicals and MSW.
Jackson
The line near Chillicothe, Ohio, transports coal, lumber, wood floors, veneers, logs, MSW, plastics, auto parts, chemicals, clay, food products and agricultural products, with an interchange with CSXT and service to Norfolk Southern. It serves the communities of Hamden, Dundas, Red Diamond, Wellston, Jackson and Oak Hill, Ohio.
Kokomo
The Kokomo division, in Kokomo, Indiana, operates a line for the Kokomo Grain Company, transporting grain and serving the communities of Amboy, Marion, Converse, Sweetser, Galveston, Walton, Logansport, Clymers, Camden, Flora and Bringhurst. It interchanges with Norfolk Southern in Marion and Clymers, Indiana, Toledo, Peoria & Western in Logansport, and Central Railroad of Indianapolis in Kokomo, Indiana.
In October 2012, it was announced that U.S. Rail, Kokomo Grain and Norfolk Southern would rehabilitate 12 miles of the former Tipton-Peru line from Kokomo to Tipton, Indiana to interchange with Norfolk Southern there. This allows Kokomo Grain a shorter route to Indianapolis and markets south.[2]
McVicker
Operates at Millard, Kentucky, with products being mainly coal.
