Twic East County
the Twic East County formerly known as Tui/twi/Twic is currently one of the counties of Jonglei State of South Sudan. Its headquarters are located at Panyagoor. It is the birthplace and Homeland of Former SPLA and the first Vice President of the Republic of Sudan and the first President of South Sudan Dr. John Garang De Mabior. The History of the native people of Twic East County dated back great migration. This county is inherited by the Nilotic Group. These are part of the River lakes. Nilotes who are believed to have migrated from Western Sudan of Bar el Gazal region around 1000 AD. They Dinka people are an ethnic group inhabiting the Bahr el Ghazal region of the Nile basin, Jonglei and parts of southern Kordufan and Upper Nile regions. They are mainly agripastoral people, relying on cattle herding at riverside camps in the dry season and growing millet (awuou) and other varieties of grains (rap) in fixed settlements during the rainy season. They numbered around 4.5 million people according to the 2008 Sudan census, constituting about 18% of the population[1] of the entire country, and the largest ethnic tribe in South Sudan.
