Tripurantakam

Tripurantakam is a village and mandal in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, India.

Tripurantakam is located at a distance of 40 km from its nearest towns Markapur & Vinukonda, 93 km from Ongole and around 150 km from Vijayawada. It is on Guntur - Srisailam route. A famous temple dedicated to Sri Tripurantakeswara Swamy is located here.The temple is on the top of a hill built in the shape of SriChakra. It is considered to be the Eastern gateway to the famous Srisailam temple. There is also a tunnel to Srisailam that is closed now for security reasons.

Goddess Sri Bala Tripura Sundari is located down the hill, in the midst of a tank [ cheruvu]. Goddess Sri Bala Tripura Sundari deity & her temple complex here lies in the middle of water when the Tripurantakam tank is full or half full. A Srichakram is present here.

There is a legend about the temple of Tripurantakam. Lord Shiva killed demons called Thripurasuras with the help of Goddess Sri Bala Tripura Sundari at this place. Shivaratri & Navaratri festivals are very famous here with people from the surrounding districts visiting this temple.

All buses running between Vijayawada-Kurnool, Vijayawada - Kadapa, Tenali - Erragondapalem, Guntur - srisailam travel via Tripurantakam.
