Tri Repetae is the third album by British electronic music duo Autechre, released by Warp Records on 6 November 1995. In the United States, this album was released as Tri Repetae++, a two-CD set with the Garbage and Anvil Vapre EPs constituting the second CD. In Japan, it was released with the bonus track "Medrey".
The liner notes mention a preference to listen to the album on vinyl, for its inclusion of surface noise; the CD version states that the album is "incomplete without surface noise", whereas the vinyl version states that it is "complete with surface noise."
Tri Repetae and its Tri Repetae++ version is considered as one of the most influential electronic albums of the 90s because the way in which dissimilar genres such as jungle/hip hop, industrial, ambient and experimental music were put together.
On Tri Repetae, Garbage and Anvil Vapre the rhythmic patterns became more minimal and repetitive and the melodic arrays got more intricate and spatialized in comparison to their previous albums Incunabula and Amber. The acknowledged influence of avant garde artist Tod Dockstader begin to materialise during this period of their career, as well as the work of György Ligeti, Iannis Xenakis and Edgard Varese to whom Autechre first listened on the early 90s and cited as significant inspiration in an interview they gave to The Wire on 2003.
