travelmob is a social networking website for booking accommodation and room rentals. It was founded by Turochas Fuad and Prashant Kirtane on July 10, 2012. Since its launch in July 2012, travelmob features over 30,000 Asia Pacific short-term rental listings including luxury villas, urban apartments, houseboats, treehouses, shared spaces and even an entire private island.

History

Built on a transaction-based model, travelmob supports 17 currencies and operates in 13 languages, including Bahasa, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Thai, Vietnamese, French, Italian, Spanish and English.[1] The company announced in September 2012 that they closed seed funding of US $1 million led by Jungle Ventures, with participation from Silicon Valley VC firm Accel Partners and private investors.[2] Since its launch, travelmob has rolled out several new features including "experience tags" that enable travellers to search by experience, last minute deals and a new broadcast feature that helps travellers find accommodations faster by posting details of their trip to travelmob Hosts via a Broadcast.[3][4]

In December 5, 2013 travelmob launched an iOS app.[5]

On May 26, 2015, travelmob officially transitioned its brand, products and company name to HomeAway. "The brand and name change will allow us to leverage the extensive network and brand presence that HomeAway has globally. That objective is to create a stronger brand across Asia Pacific - benefiting both our guests and hosts in our collective networks. We want to make sure that you discover the best vacation rentals across the globe with HomeAway. "[6] While the travelmob sites transitioned its brand, product and company name to HomeAway, the existing listing and booking process remains the same.

Partnerships

travelmob has distribution partnerships with Wego.com[7] and HomeAway. The company also recently announced on 16 July 2013[8] that it has signed an agreement to be acquired by HomeAway, the world's leading online marketplace for vacation rentals.[9][10]
