The Transylvanian Military Frontier (Romanian: Graniţa Militară Transilvăneană; German: Siebenbürgische Militärgrenze; Hungarian: Erdélyi határőrvidék) was a territory in the Habsburg Monarchy. It was a section of the Habsburg Military Frontier.

History

It was founded in 1762 from territories that formerly were part of the Habsburg Principality of Transylvania. After its abolishment, territory of Transylvanian Military Frontier was again included into this principality.

Borders

The Transylvanian Military Frontier bordered Habsburg Principality of Transylvania and Habsburg Kingdom of Hungary in the northwest, the Habsburg Banatian Military Frontier in the southwest, the Habsburg Galicia in the northeast, and vassal Ottoman principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia in the southeast.

Regiments

Transylvanian Military Frontier was composed of two Székely and two Romanian regiments.
