XM.com (previously known as XeMarkets) is a Cyprus-based international online foreign exchange broker. The company provides financial trading services through various electronic trading platforms, including MetaTrader 4 allowing traders to apply Expert Advisor (EA) strategies. XM also provides trading in contract for difference (CFDs) on major indices and commodities such as gold and crude oil. The company is headquartered in Cyprus, with representative offices in Hungary, Greece, Australia and New Zealand.
History
XM’s holding company Trading Point Holdings Ltd was founded in 2009 in Cyprus by entrepreneurs Costas Cleanthous and Ilias Mavrommatis, both ex-interbank dealers. The company previously operated its brand name under the name XEMarkets until it started trading as XM.com in 2013.
Starting in 2010, the company started offering retail services through the MetaTrader 4 platform. In 2011 it received registration status from UK’s Financial Services Authority (FSA). During the same year it introduced WebTrader 4 in addition to Mobile Trading applications and also launched its own affiliate program for web affiliates, representatives and introducing brokers.
In 2012, Trading Point was fined $140,000 by the CFTC for soliciting U.S. clients.[2]
Later in 2012, XM’s holding company acquired XEMarkets.com[3] and started offering services in 18 languages. During the same year it launched a news streaming service on MetaTrader 4, and started offering a number of on-site and offsite seminars, workshops across various locations worldwide. The company provides education to professional traders regarding trading on financial markets through partnership with UAE based Tradepedia founded by financial analyst and risk management expert, Avramis Despotis.
During 2013 , the company introduced free trading signals to customers and a Virtual Private Server (VPS) service. The signals are developed by Avramis Despotis, a Certified Financial Technician and Chief Technical analyst at XM.[4] At the end of 2013, the company started working with a UK-based organization Investors in People to transform business performance through investment in people.
In 2014 the company opened representative offices in Budapest, Athens and Sydney.
In January 2016 XM has reached a new milestone as it exceeded the 500,000 clients mark.[5]

XM’s holding company Trading Point Holdings, commonly known as Trading Point, is a Cyprus-based holding company. The company holds three subsidiary companies:
- Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd (Cyprus), regulated by the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission (CySEC).
- Trading Point of Financial Instruments Pty Ltd. (Australia) regulated by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC).
- Trading Point NZ Ltd, regulated by the Financial Service Providers Register (FSP) of New Zealand.
Regulatory Framework
Trading Point Holdings maintains subsidiaries which are regulated and registered within multiple jurisdictions including,[6] the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission (CySEC), the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Financial Service Providers Register (FSP) of New Zealand.
Its Cyprus based subsidiary is registered with the FCA (UK), BaFin (Germany), CNMV (Spain), PSZÁF (Hungary), CONSOB (Italy), ACP (France), FIN (Finland), KNF (Poland), AFM (The Netherlands), FI (Sweden), ASIC (Australia).[7]
The company enforces investor protection measures described by the European Union’s Markets of Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID).[8]
The holding company is audited by KPMG.[9]
Trading Platforms
XM offers a large variety of trading platforms, from MetaTrader to the intuitive XM trading post. The MetaTrader 4 platform comes with Live Feeds for News, and with extensive support.[10] XM currently offers six different electronic trading platforms which can be used by the clients.
- XM MetaTrader 4, 3rd party software with expert advisor
- XM WebTrader 4, 3rd party software for web trading
- XM MetaTrader 4 Multiterminal[11][12]
- XM MetaTrader 4 for Mac, port of Meta Trader 4 for Mac OS X[13]
A number of customized forex Islamic accounts are available, plus demo accounts and managed accounts.
Awards & Reviews
A review by TheFXview.com on October 8, 2013 names XM as "one of the better forex...brokerages".[14] According to independent forex-rating website FXBrokersRating.com, Trading Point "was founded by market professionals with many years of interbank experience" and trading with the company on the website is "extremely safe."[15]
Forex market analysis website ForexCycle calls Trading Point a "leading online forex broker as it adopts a transparent execution policy which enhances no re-quotes on customer orders."[16] Forex reviews website DailyForex also calls the quality of service "consistent. . .available and supportive throughout the trading process."[17]
