Trad.Attack!
Trad.Attack! is an Estonian folk band. It is the winner of Estonian Ethno Music Awards 2014,[1] as well as of Estonian Music Awards 2014 in the nominations of Best Etno/Folk Album and Best Video.[2]
The band consists of Sandra Sillamaa (torupill, vocals), Jalmar Vabarna (guitar), and Tõnu Tubli (percussion). They perform in Estonian.
The group started to perform in 2013.[3] Sillamaa and Tubli previously were members of Paabel. The original idea was to form a group performing Estonian folk music, which has a strong tradition, and Trad.Attack! heavily uses archive folk recordings.[4] On certain tracks, voices from archive recordings are even used as lead vocals.[5]
