Purch is the trade name of used by TechMediaNetworks, Inc., and its corporate affiliates.[1] The company, based in New York City, was founded in 2003 and engages in the online marketing business.[2] The company operates a large number of popular websites (see List of websites below). In 2014, it rebranded itself as Purch "to better reflect its growing portfolio of brands and products focused on purchasing decisions".<ref name"Welton 2014/04/30">Welton, Caysey (April 30, 2014). History
Purch was originally founded as TopTenREVIEWS, Inc.[3] in 2003 by Jerry Ropelato,[4] who currently serves on the board of directors. In 2009, TopTenREVIEWS, Inc. was rebranded as TechMedia Network, Inc. following the acquisition of LiveScience, Space.com and Newsarama from Imaginova.[5] In 2011, TechMedia Network, Inc. acquired the print- and online-assets of LAPTOP Magazine (now, exclusively a web publication known as Laptop Mag) from Bedford Communications.[6] In July 2013, the company acquired Bestofmedia Group,[7] publisher of Tom’s Hardware, Tom’s Guide, Tom’s IT Pro and a variety of sister publications across Europe. TechMedia Network Inc. acquired BuyerZone.com, LLC[8] from Reed Business Information in early 2014, and in doing so, added a lead-generation platform to its network of media publications. On April 30, 2014, Purch announced an exclusive partnership with Mobile Nations,[9] a network of mobile-focused online communities. On December 17, 2014, Purch announced the acquisition of AnandTech and on March 3, 2015 the company announced the acquisition of mobile shopping app Consumr.[10] Purch has received funding from ABS Capital Partners, Village Ventures, and Highway 12 Ventures.[11] Greg Mason is the current CEO of Purch.
