Tony Bennett (basketball, born 1984)
Tony Bennett (born August 22, 1984) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Windsor Express of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). He was part of an Express team that won the championship in 2014–15. Bennett was a Premier Basketball League All-Star in 2010 and an Independent Basketball Association All-Star in 2012.[1] He played college basketball for the Bradley Braves and led them to a Sweet 16 appearance in the 2006 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. Prior to that, Bennett attended George Westinghouse College Prep in Chicago, Illinois.[2]
Professional career
On May 8, 2015, Bennett was suspended indefinitely from the Windsor Express and the National Basketball League of Canada following a pre-game altercation in the 2015 NBL Canada Finals, after which the Halifax Rainmen forfeited Game 7. His team was awarded the championship, but his head coach Bill Jones received a one-year suspension and a $4,000 fine. Even more suspensions were faced by the Rainmen, including those of Kevin Young and Cliff Clinkscales.[3]
