Tom O'Halleran is a Democratic politician from Arizona who is currently a candidate for Arizona's 1st congressional district in the 2016 election.

O'Halleran formerly served as a Republican in the Arizona State Legislature. He represented the 1st District in the Senate from 2007 to 2009, but was unseated by primary challenger Steve Pierce during the 2008 election cycle. Prior to that, he served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2001 through 2006.

In 2014 he resigned from the Republican Party, citing the party's inability to address issues such as education, water and child-welfare. He then stood for election in the 1st District as an Independent, but lost by 3%.[1]

He now hosts a radio show on Thursday mornings on KAZM in Sedona, and is a strong advocate for securing a National Scenic Area for the Sedona Red Rocks.

On August 6, 2015, O'Halleran announced his candidacy as a Democrat for Arizona's 1st congressional district.[2]

As of October 21, 2015, O'Halleran raised $120,000 and had most of it on hand.[3]
