Tokyo Wangan Police Station

Tokyo Wangan Police Station

Tokyo Wangan Police Station (東京湾岸警察署 Tōkyō Wangan Kēsatsusyo) is a police station located in Kōtō, Tokyo.

History

During the fast-growing development in the Tokyo's Wangan area, in the early 2004, a suggestion for the creation of a new police station was brought up. With the popularity of Bayside Shakedown franchise, it was thought that the station will be nicknamed "Wangan Police Station" from the drama. Then in June 2005, the creation of a new police station was confirmed. In February 2008, the police station was finished.

Although the tentative name during the 2005 plan was Rinkō Police Station, the survey for the official name of new station conducted with the residents, was overwhelming in favor of "Wangan Police Station" (湾岸署). [1] On June 27, 2007, the official name of the police station was confirmed to be "Tokyo Wangan Police Station." Since Wangan Police Station (湾岸署) is a copyrighted term by Fuji Television, they've added "Tokyo" before to avoid the problem. The station opened on March 31, 2008. [2]
