Origin of Parinda community
There is no reliable historical data available but some stories prevail among the local folk. According to one story an early ancestor of the parinndo community was very ambitious to be popular so he thought of different ideas but all remained unsuccessful. One day as he sat at home very disappointed he suddenly saw a group of flying birds, an idea struck him to use artificial wings to fly like a bird. He used a pair of hand thrashers as wings. He went into the forest and climbed a tall tree, then attached the wings to his arms. As the wind blew he quickly flexed his wings and jumped down but unaware of the laws of gravity, fell down rapidly. His unbalanced body struck the ground and he hurt his head. People gave him the title of Parinda. Although he was mentally sound he behaved as if psychologically disturbed to avoid people scoffing. Local people believe the later generations of Parinda or Parinndo still behave peculiarly.
