Timothy Oluwole Obadare (April 1930 - March 2013) was a Nigerian religious colossus, renowned televangelist and the General Evangelist of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).[1][2]

Early life

He was born in 1930 at Ilesa, a city in Osun State, southwestern Nigeria]] to the family of Pastor and Mr. David Obadare who was a farmer.[3] Timothy was educated at the Apostolic Church Primary School in Ise-Ilesa but dropped out due to blindness that resulted from chronic smallpox epidemic and effort to regain his sight was futile.[4] He was taken to a missionary hospital in Lagos for treatment and unknown prophet in the hospital reveled that he was provided with an extraordinary eyes beyond the visible eyes.[5] In 1954, he proceeded to the Apostolic Church Theological Seminary in spite of his impaired vision.[6] He later received several honorary degrees from notable universities.[7]

Evangelism

He was baptized in 1949, the same year he accepted Jesus christ.[8] Four years after his baptism he joined The Apostolic Church (TAC) where he spent four years and in 1957, he met Joseph Ayo Babalola, the founder of Christ Apostolic Church, who introduced him to the church.[9] He later founded "the World Soul Winning Evangelistic Ministry"in August 1974.[10] Prior to his demise on March 2013, he was the President of the Interdenominational Ministers’ Association of Nigeria (IMA).[11]
