Tillang Chong is an island and a village in the Nicobar district of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India. It is located in the Nancowry tehsil.[1]

The Tillang Chong island is a part of the Nicobar Islands chain, located in the northeast Indian Ocean between the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. It has the largest surviving populations of the endemic Nicobar megapode (Megapodius nicobariensis),[2] and is a protected sanctuary.[3]

Demographics

At the time of 2001 census, the island was largely uninhabited apart from a police post,[2] with the island being held sacred to the Nicobarese people, who visit in one season annully to "...to pray, to feel, and to revere...".[2]

According to the 2011 census of India, Tillang Chong Island has 4 households. The effective literacy rate (i.e. the literacy rate of population excluding children aged 6 and below) is 89.47%.[4]
