The Thompson R2-J School District is located in Loveland, Colorado and covers schools in Loveland, Berthoud, Masonville, Drake, and the southern part of Fort Collins. It is the 16th largest school district in Colorado, serving more than 15,000 students within 30 schools. Being located in northern Colorado, when inclement weather hits (frequently )they are well known for being the last school district to close,and oftentimes the only district to stay open. Parents aren't allowed to make the choice to keep their children from having to travel in what is often dangerous, blizzard like conditions.
