Thomas McWhannell

Thomas McWhannell was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.[1] He was born 17 March 1844 at Lochearnhead, Perthshire, Scotland[2] and arrived in Queensland in 1861.[3] He married married JJessie McWhannell (nee Morgan) 12 March 1979.[3] Their children were Rodney, Isobel and Jessie.[3] He died 17 March 1888 (Ashfield, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia)[2]

Early life

Thomas McWhannell arrived in Queensland with his brother James in 1861 from Scotland. They were squatters for a period then purchased the following properties: Headingly, Rodney Downs, Undilla, Stoney Plains and Oban.

Career

He became the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Gregory North from 21 March 1882 until 21 March 1888.[2] and was also President of the Graziers Association.[3]
