Thimmapuram is a Panchayat & Village in the Virudhunagar district of the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is 522 km (324 mi) from Chennai and 38 km (24 mi) away from Virudhunagar.

It is located on the Madurai-Tuticorin national highway NH-45B. Thimmapuram is bordered by the Madurai and Sivagangai districts. It belongs to the Kariapatti.

History

Thimmapuram name derived from in the ancient history where ThummaNachiyar sister of Thirumalai Nayak lived in this village after her marriage. Once upon a time major drought in this area, Thimmanachiyar request to his brother bring water. Thirumalai Nayak made long canal from Vaigai River. Ancient period where the Nayak people lived in this village and ruled this area. Historic people lived in this village such as Arumuga Thevar, Palaniandi Thevar.
