Thermoplasma volcanium is an archaeon.[1] Many T. volcanium strains have been isolated from solfatara fields throughout the world. It is highly flagellated, motile, cell wall-deficient, thermoacidophilic, facultatively anaerobic and organotrophic. Its genome has been sequenced.[2]
