Thendral (Tamil: தென்றல்) is a Tamil drama serial directed by S. Kumaran. It premiered on 7 December 2009 and is being aired on Sun TV. Thendral stars Shruthi Raj, Deepak Dinkar and Hemalatha in the lead roles and revolves around a girl's struggle in a middle-class family, focusing on the importance of women's' education.[1] The Indian newspaper Business Standard describes it as the "first youthful prime time daily soap in Tamil".[2][3] The serial and had the highest Television Rating Point for Tamil serials and it was remade in Telugu as Sravani Subramanyam and in other languages.[4] Thendral has been highly acclaimed and has won many awards.[5][6][7]
