Edgar Candel Kerri Cumhur Jay Yilmaz |
The Zombie Kids is a band formed by Edgar Candel Kerri and Cumhur Jay, two disc jockeys and record producers who live in Spain. The newly formed band became popular with their debut in Rock in Rio (Lisbon 2010) and the release of their first single "Face" (2010), which was a great success. The song was chosen to be part of the O.S.T of the movie Tengo ganas de ti and the Mexican brewery advertisement of "Cerveza Indio". Its good acceptance made the record label Universal Music sign an agreement with the band to record its first album, The Zombie Kids, which went on sale 27 July 2012. That same year, the band was awarded with the Best Spanish Artist of the "MTV European Music Awards". During the summer of 2013 The Zombie Kids was the musical band which had performed the most in public. They have also launched their first project "TZK Radio" with monthly sessions with which they have made public their new song "My House is Your House" feat. MC Ambush.
Their music is eclectic but always stays within the electronic music genre. Even though they've admitted in many interviews, to be influenced by many other different music genres like punk, soul, metal or rap.
Background
The band was formed when Edgar Candel Kerri (1979), musician and DJ from Barcelona, met Cumhur Jay (1980), DJ and producer, in the Spanish capital, and soon they started a great friendship and working together on remixes and their own productions. With all the energy they emitted in every live performance, they began to stand out on the Spanish dance music scene. However, it wasn't until the beginning of the summer of 2011 when they had a significant increase of popularity. After several releases with small independent record labels, the record company Subterfuge was interested in the band and it released their single "Face", featuring the singer "Aqeel" in a video clip which was directed by Costa (MC). The success of the single album aroused the interest of the company Universal Music, which signed an agreement with the band to release their first album The Zombie Kids which went on sale on 27 July 2012 after two previous single albums, "Live Forever 2012", filmed entirely in Guatemala, and "Spanish Sauce Mafia". Also, they were both directed by Costa and they reached number 1 iTunes Spain. During 2013 "Ambush" has joined the band as MC, the new voice of Zombie Kids, and they have started the project TZK Radio, where they've released the preview of the new song "My House is Your House".
The Zombie Kids live performances have a good reputation for the energy emitted, as well as for the synergy with their audience, which has led them to take part of several music festivals on today's music scene, like Global Gathering, Pukklepop, Sonar, Creamfields, Arenal Sound, SOS 4.8, Rock In Rio or DxB Festival in Dubái. Also its easy to see them by the night clubs and the beaches of Ibiza island.
Business
On 2 December 2013 they created their first record label, Zombie Musik, with the release of their new song "My House is Your House" feat. Mc Ambush. They are also the owners of a Hamburger restaurant and a cocktails bar in Madrid, Zombie Bar.
The Zombie Kids were also co-owners of the Zombie Club in Madrid, in which is located part of the origin of their success. At the same time, they ran Zombie Studio, which covers different activities as design, fashion or art.
