The Weiss School is a small, co-ed private school for gifted children in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, founded in 1989 by Elizabeth and Martin Weiss. In 2010 the school officially became a 501c3 organization.
With about 245 students, it goes from grades Pre-K 3 to 8th grade. Each grade contains about 20 to 30 students. The faculty to student ratio is 8:1.
Since its establishment, it has undergone many expansions. It is unique among elementary and middle schools because of its focus on STEAM: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. In 2013, the school upgraded its Science program for grades K-8 to teach the Full Option Science System, a research-based science curriculum developed at the Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California, Berkeley with grants from the National Science Foundation.
In grades 3-5, band is compulsory. The Music department includes a show choir, band and theater. The Weiss School has an excellent fine art program led by David Tripp. The Drama department puts on full-scale musicals, talent shows, and other productions.
The school also features a special academic Taekwondo program, which starts in kindergarten.
