"The Taste of Ink" is the second single from The Used's self-titled debut album The Used. The video was released in fall 2002 and the single was released on March 10, 2003.

A demo version exists and was released as part of Demos from the Basement, the original demo CD distributed by the band which was then called Used. The lyrics differ significantly, and the chorus "So here I am..." does not exist in the demo.[1]

The video shows that "The Taste of Ink" is the result of frustrationbiting down on a pen. It was directed by The Malloys.[2]

This song became available as downloadable content for the video game Rock Band on April 10, 2010.[3]
