Plot
Nancy, Bess, and George travel to a picturesque seaside town in search of Carson Drew's missing client. When Carson fails to join the girls, leading to a mystery involving his disappearance and a nearby cliffside cave inhabited by a ghost and his tolling bell. Nancy and her friends travel to the cave but Nancy becomes stranded. When she climbs to the top of the cliff to give herself a better view, Nancy is overcome by sweet smelling fumes and faints. After a short period of time, Nancy revives and forces herself to sit. However, the strange, sweet odour is still in the air and Nancy becomes increasingly dizzy. Unable to keep her eyes open, Nancy faints again and falls limply to the ground. As she begins to wake, Nancy hears voices and as her eyes open, she sees what appear to be dwarfs. The young sleuth feels herself being lifted, then for a third time Nancy Drew faints out! Nancy awakes some time later well away from where she originally fainted. However, undeterred by what has happened Nancy later returns with her friends to find strange going on inside the cliffs.
