The Foreigner is an upcoming action-thriller film directed by Martin Campbell, based on the 1992 novel The Chinaman written by Stephen Leather. It stars Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan, Charlie Murphy and Stephen Hogan. Principal photography began in January 2016.

Production

The film was first announced in April 2015. Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan was the first actor to be announced to cast in the lead role, Pierce Brosnan joined the cast alongside Jackie Chan in November. Martin Campbell is attached to direct the project, before that, Nick Cassavetes was offered to direct. The filming of a scene involving the bombing of a London double-decker bus caused widespread alarm among Londoners, not all of whom were aware that it was a stunt.[2]

Release

STX Entertainment will produce and distribute the film.[3] Principal photography commenced in January 2016.
