Summary
Set throughout several duchys and countries—such as Harcia, Clemen, and the Marches—the majority of the events of The Falcon Throne are set years after the death of Salimbene, the only son of the king of Zeidica by Jelani of Osfahr. Prior to her death, Jelani warns Salimbene of his father.
Characters
- Salimbene – Prince of the Old Kingdom of Zeidica. His ″death″ triggers the events in the story.
- Balfre – Duke Aimery′s second son and heir. His goal is to see Harcia united as one country again, and to see himself as its king. He married his brother Malcolm′s intended Jancis, and fathered a girl named Emeline with her.
- Grefin – Duke Aimery′s youngest son, made Steward of the Green Isle. He is married to Mazelina and the father of Jorin, Ullia, and Kerric.
- Aimery – Duke of Harcia. Father of Balfre, Grefin, and Malcolm, who was killed prior to the story′s events.
- Black Hughe – Lord Herewart′s son. A joust between him and Balfre ends with his death.
- Harald – Duke of Clemen. Married to Argante, father of Liam.
- Argante – Wife of Duke Harald, mother of Liam. She is young but vain. Half-sister of Ercole, related to Lady Morda.
- Liam – Son of Harald and Argante. Ellyn is his wet nurse.
- Roric – Bastard cousin of Duke Harald. He leads a coupe to overthrow his cousin.
- Izusa – A witch that assists Balfre.
- Berardine – The Duchess of Ardenn. Widow of Baldwin, mother of Catrain, Brielle, Derrice, and Markela.
- Catrain – Daughter of Berardine and Baldwin.
