The End of the World Party is the second studio album by American electronicore band I See Stars. It was released on February 22, 2011 through Sumerian Records.
Background
The album was first announced to be in the works on October 8, 2010, through a statement posted by AbsolutePunk.[4] The album was not mentioned again until the release of a video update on Sumerian Records' YouTube page, released on November 6, 2010.[5]
The title track of the album, "The End of the World Party", was released on December 6, 2010, and the song could be unlocked by "liking" the Sumerian Records Facebook page.[6] The track list was announced on January 14, 2011.[7][8]
The album's release date of February 22, 2011 was announced through I See Stars' Merch Connection Inc. page, where they released pre-order packages on January 15, 2011.[9] On February 1, 2011, Alternative Press started streaming the song "Wonderland" on their website.[10]
The musical style on the album begins to showcase more of the aggressive, metalcore-influenced sound that would be featured on the band's future studio releases, as evidenced by the much more raw and distorted guitar rhythms and drum beats in comparison to the group's previous release, 3-D. This can particularly be heard on the title track, "The End Of The World Party", while most of the other tracks include metalcore-style breakdowns near the end. This is particularly evident on "Over It", "Wonderland", and "Glow". It would be the last album to feature the band's original pop punk/pop rock sound before it was completely abandoned on future releases.
Although the band did perform acoustic renditions of songs off of both this release and 3-D as part of their Phases tour, no songs from either of these albums have been played live in their original form as of late 2013.
