The Black Vortex

The Black Vortex is a 2015 comic book storyline published by Marvel Comics and is the last of the publisher's crossover events before Secret Wars makes major changes.

Premise

For months Star-Lord has heard about the Black Vortex, an ancient artifact imbued with immeasurable power. Rumors claim that whoever wields it can unlock their true potential through cosmic power. After learning that the Black Vortex is in Mister Knife's possession and that Thane, the son of Thanos, wants it for himself, Peter Quill realizes billions of lives could be at stake if the wrong people unlock its power.

In order to steal something of such great power, Peter dusts off his thieving gloves and calls for help. He enlists both his Guardians of the Galaxy and the All New X-Men together (among others) to pull off his biggest heist. But with the Slaughter Squad protecting Mister Knife, the job won't be as easy as Peter believes.

The story ran between selected issues for the months of February to April 2015 and will be book-ended by an Alpha and an Omega issue.
