"The Ballad of Go Go Brown" is synthpop trio Heaven 17's first single of 1988 from the album Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho.[1] It was written by all three members. The single was released in late 1988 and peaked at #91 in the UK, spending 2 weeks on the chart.[2] This would be the band's final chart entry in the UK singles chart excluding remixes of previous hits.[2]

The track moved away from the trio's usual synthpop sound and instead featured guitars and a western influenced sound.

No promotional video was created for the single but a performance of the track was shown on the Get Fresh TV show along with a performance of the following single "Train of Love In Motion."

Allmusic stated "Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho marked the first time that Heaven 17 highlighted guitar and real bass. Worth the price of the album, however, is the out of character country-tinged "The Ballad of Go Go Brown." Heaven 17 had never sounded like this before, and it demonstrated their versatility."[3]
