Teatro Municipal of Caracas
The Teatro Municipal of Caracas is an opera house in Venezuela. It was inaugurated in 1881, which makes it one of the oldest opera houses in South America. It was begun by a French architect and finished by a Venezuelan architect Jesús Muñoz Tébar. Since the 1970s the city's main theatre for opera has been the Teresa Carreno. The Teatro Municipal is the home of the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Caracas. Operatic productions continue to be mounted.[1]
