Taraiya (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: तरैया विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Saran district in the Indian state of Bihar.
Overview
As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 116 Taraiya (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following:Taraiya, Panapur and Ishuapur community development blocks.[1]
Taraiya (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 19 Maharajganj (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]It was earlier part of Chapra (Lok Sabha constituency).
Election results
1977-2010
In the 2010 state assembly elections, Janak Singh of BJP won the Taraiya assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Tarakeshwar Singh of Congress. [2] Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Ram Das Rai of RJD defeated Janak Singh of BJP in October 2005. Janak Singh of LJP defeated Ram Das Rai of RJD in February 2005. Ram Das Rai of RJD/ JD defeated Janak Singh of BJP in 2000 and 1995. Raj Deo Pratap Singh of JD defeated Ram Das Rai of BJP in 1990. Ram Das Rai of BJP defeated Rajendra Singh Kashyap of Congress in 1985. Prabhunath Singh of Congress defeated Ram Das Rai of BJP in 1980. Dharam Nath Singh of JP defeated Prabhunath Singh of Congress in 1977.[3]
