Tanya Barbara Magarita Woods was a fictional character in UK soap opera Family Affairs, played by Carol Starks from 2003 until 2005 several months before the end of the series.

Character Information

Tanya first arrived in Charnaham in 2003, at St David's hospital, as the nurse who treated Jake Walker after his involvement in a car crash that killed Robert Davenport and Fern Farmer. Tanya later moved in with her best friend, Sean Steel, a gay man. The two agreed to try to adopt a baby together.

Tanya and Sean tried to adopt Charlie, but the idea could not materialize as Charlie's mother Sarah came back into the picture.

In 2004, Tanya gave birth to a baby boy, Harry. Soon after, Sean died in hospital after being stabbed by some youths in the early hours of New Year's Eve.

For the remainder of 2005, Tanya was involved in a love triangle with Dr. John Stokes and her neighbor Conrad Williams. John proposed to Tanya and they were married that September and left Charnham.

Subsequently Tanya miscarried and left John. Weeks later, Tanya realized she loved Conrad and returned to Charnham on rainy night to let him know. The two shared a kiss and left for Fiji.

For her portrayal of Tanya, Starks was nominated in the category of "Best Actress" at the 2005 British Soap Awards.[1]
