The Tanglin Police Division (or 'E' Division, Chinese: 东陵警区) is a police division of the Singapore Police Force. It manages a varied, highly urbanised area of central Singapore, which includes the public housing towns of Bishan, Toa Payoh and parts of Kallang, large areas of private housing areas such as those in Bukit Timah and Novena, as well as key commercial areas such as Orchard Road and Clarke Quay. Policing duties are carried out from five Neighbourhood Police Centres (NPC) and twelve Neighbourhood Police Posts (NPP).
History
The 'E' Division was headquartered at Orchard Police Station in the Orchard Road area, before moving to Tanglin Police Station at 17 Napier Road between Orchard Road and the Botanical Gardens in 1980.[1] Tanglin Police Station was opened by the then Minister for Home Affairs, Mr Chua Sian Chin, in June 1981. When the Toa Payoh Police Division was closed in 1988, 'E' Division took over half its areas of control while Ang Mo Kio Police Division took over the rest.
With the implementation of the NPC system in July 2001, the headquarters was moved to its present site at 21 Kampong Java Road on 6 May 2001.
