Tân Uyên is a rural district of Bình Dương Province in the Southeast region of Vietnam, about 20 miles north-west of Ho Chi Minh City. As of 2009, the district had a population of 157,187. The district covers an area of 593.296 km². The district capital lies at Uyên Hưng.[1]
The area was already an important local centre in the Nguyen dynasty and French periods.[2][3]
Administrative divisions
Tân Uyên district is divided into 19 communes (Tân Bình, Vĩnh Tân, Phú Chánh, Tân Vĩnh Hiệp, Khánh Bình, Thạnh Phước, Bạch Đằng, Tân Mỹ, Thường Tân, Lạc An, Tân Thành, Tân Lập, Tân Định, Hội Nghĩa, Bình Mỹ, Hiếu Liêm, Đất Cuốc, Tân Hiệp, Thạnh Hội) and 3 towns (Uyên Hưng, Tân Phước Khánh, Thái Hòa).[1]
