A constitutional referendum will be held in Tajikistan on 22 May 2016. The changes to be approved in the referendum are:^[1]

allowing incumbent President Emomali Rahmon to run for re-election indefinitely; the current constitution requires him to step down at the next elections.
reducing the minimum age to run for president from 35 to 30; Rahmon's son would be 33 at the end of his current term.
banning political parties based on religious platforms, ensuring the continued illegality of the main opposition Islamic Renaissance Party, which was outlawed in 2015.
