Local elections in Tacloban City, Leyte will be held on May 9, 2016 within the Philippine general election. The voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, and the councilors.
Background
Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez is on his third and final term as Mayor to preparing his wife Cristina, currently a city councilor, to run for mayor under the Nacionalista Party.[1]On October 16, 2015, she filed her COC for Mayor. She will be opposed by incumbent councilor Neil Glova.
The incumbent vice mayor, Jerry "Sambo" Yaokasin, will run as independent. He will be opposed by Gonzalez-Romualdez' running mate, Jeric Dane Granados.[2]
