T. P. M. Mohideen Khan(Tamil: T.P.M. மொஹிதீன் கான் ;born in Tirunelveli on 19 July 1947) is the former Minister for Environment in Tamil Nadu state of India. He was incumbent Member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, representing from Palayamkottai (State Assembly Constituency) and he is continuously three times elected in same constituency.[1] His political party is the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party.
Early life and career
T. P. M. Mohideen Khan begin his career as a business man. He was very much inspired by dravidian movement run by C. N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi, founder and leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam which was conducted allover Tamil Nadu to oppose Hindi as an official language in Tamil Nadu. He join Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as volunteer and involved in many train and bus strike in those days. Then Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam came to power and T. P. M. Mohideen Khan was given many positions and finally 2001, he got a Palayamkottai (State Assembly Constituency) ticket. He was first elected to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and then till now he is holding the position. 2006 Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party won the election and they given Minister for Environment in Tamil Nadu.
Skills
T. P. M. Mohideen Khan while he was Minister for Environment, communicating with finance minister and he implemented Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) should be fully computerised and all TNPCB work is converted to electronically within one month, this system speed up the process of issuing permissions to investors and till now its benefiting to entire state.
Controversies
In 2010, he came under controversy for letting a police officer who was attacked by gangsters, die on the road and not providing immediate help even when he had convoy of cars with him. He along with Minister for Health M. R. K. Panneerselvam did not get out of their car for 20 minutes and stood there as a mere witness to this incidence.[2]
