Svitlana Azarova

Svitlana Azarova (Ukrainian: Світлана Азарова, Russian: Светлана Азарова) is a Ukrainian/Dutch composer of contemporary classical music born January 9, 1976 in the Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union.

Early years

After having graduated from Izmail Pedagogical Institute as music teacher in 1996, Svitlana entered Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Conservatoire (Ukrainian: Одеська державна музична академія ім. А.В. Нежданової) (now Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Musical Academy) where she studied composition, first under Prof. Olexander Krasotov and later until her graduation as composer in 2000 under Prof. Karmella Tsepkolenko.

In 2003 she participated in the 6 month long Gaude Polonia - a scholarship program of the Ministry Culture of Republic Poland, at the Frédéric Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw with professor Marcin Blazewicz. Later that year, Dresden Centre of Music/DZzM (now European Centre for the Arts) invited Svitlana to participate in the Scholarship project pass_ПОРТ within the Dresdner Tage der zeitgenössischen Musik.[1] This project met again at the 8th Musica Viva in Munich 2007.[2]

In 2005 With a grant of the society KulturKontakt Austria she elected to participate in the 9th International Academy for New Composition and Audio-Art, Avantgarde Tirol with Professor Boguslaw Schaeffer and Dr. Richard Boulanger (Seefeld, Tirol, Austria). After this academy, she took up permanent residency of The Hague and in 2006 began post-graduate studies at conservatoire in Amsterdam under Theo Loevendie where she graduated Master of Music in December 2007[3]
