Susan Collis

Susan Collis (born 1956) is a British artist working in Hackney, London.

Early life and education

Collis studied sculpture, gaining a BA(Hons) in 2000 at the Chelsea School of Art, London and a MA from the Royal College of Art in 2002.[1]

Current works

Her works feature pieces that at first glance appear ordinary and unexceptional... until the viewer lingers or leans in closer. "The Oyster's Our World", 2004 at first appears to be a well used wooden step ladder but closer inspection reveals the paint drips and splatters to be carefully inlaid mother of pearl, coral, fresh water and cultured pearls, white opal, and diamond.

She won a British Cement Association Award in 2001, the Pizza Express Prospects Contemporary Drawing Prize[2] and the Jerwood Student Drawing Prize in 2002.[3]
