Sungai Besi – Ulu Kelang Expressway is a proposed urban expressway in Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It will link up Sungai Besi, Alam Damai, Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway and Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2. The 31.8 km (19.8 mi) expressway will be build to reduced traffic jam along the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (Federal Route 28) from Ampang to Bandar Tasik Selatan.

Route background

The beginning of the expressway will be at the Ulu Klang interchange and overlaps with the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (Federal Route 28) from Ulu Klang to Ampang. Key interchanges include Ulu Klang, Taman Hillview, Ampang, Taman Dagang, Taman Permai, Taman Putra, Taman Bukit Teratai, Cheras, Bandar Tun Razak, Sungai Besi, Sri Petaling and continues into Shah Alam Expressway.

History

The increasing traffic along the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 along the links of Ulu Klang, Ampang, Pandan Indah, Cheras, Bandar Tun Razak and Bandar Tasik Selatan facilitated the need of increasing road capacity. So, Prolintas proposed that the expressway to be built to meet these requirements. The expressway will act as an alternative route to Kajang from Ulu Klang. The project was allocated RM5.3 billion in the Budget 2015.[1]
