Sugar Bowl Casino
The Sugar Bowl Casino is a planned 2,000 slot gambling hall in North Richmond, California.[1] The project has met little opposition for area residents that believe it will provide jobs and added police presence allowing for reduced crime.[2]
History
The Casino will be operated on trust land acquired by the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians and will be the only successful attempt at opening an Indian gaming casino in which the house has a stake in the Richmond, California area.[1] Proposals to add gaming to the Lytton Band's Casino San Pablo card room in neighboring San Pablo and the Guideville Band's proposed billion dollar Point Molate project have been met with fervent opposition and failure.[1] Ir is opposed by county supervisor John Goia and by Senator Dianne Feinstein who oppose all urban gaming. The center will have a buffet, restaurants, night club, and a thousands of square feet of gaming space.[1]
