Kim Jun-myeon (Hangul: 김준면; Hanja: 金俊勉; born May 22, 1991), better known as Suho (meaning "guardian" in Korean), is a South Korean singer and actor. He is a member and the leader of the South Korean boy group EXO and its sub-unit EXO-K.

Early life

Suho was born in Seoul, South Korea, on May 22, 1991. During his youth, Suho was the class president of his elementary school and the vice-chairman of his school's student body. He was also a vice-chairman in junior high school; however, he dropped his position after being casted by S.M. Entertainment.[1]

In 2009, Suho began attending Korea National University of Arts; however, he withdrew from it in 2012 and continued his education at Kyung Hee Cyber University alongside his fellow group members Chanyeol and Baekhyun, where he took classes for the Culture and Arts Department of Business Administration.[2]

Career

Trainee days

Suho joined S.M. Entertainment's Casting System in 2006 when he was 16 years old, after he was discovered on the streets by a S.M. casting manager.

In 2007, he was cast as an extra in the Super Junior film Attack on the Pin-Up Boys.

In 2008, he made a brief appearance in TVXQ's music video, "HaHaHa Song" with fellow group members Chanyeol and Kai.

EXO

At 16 years old, Suho became the first EXO member to be cast as a trainee by SM Entertainment. On February 15, 2012, he was officially introduced as the tenth member of EXO.

In February 2014, Suho became an MC of the popular music show Inkigayo alongside his fellow group member Baekhyun, ZE:A's Kwanghee and actress Lee Yu-bi (later being replaced by actress Kim Yoo-jung). Both Suho and Baekhyun left the show on November 16, 2014, to focus on EXO's 2015 comeback.[3]

Solo activities

In 2013 Suho was cast to dub the voice of the main character of the Christmas movie, Saving Santa, Bernard.[4] He also sung the movie's OST.[5]

In January 2015, he starred in the S.M. Entertainment's musical, School OZ, playing the character of Hans alongside f(x)'s Luna SHINee's Key, Xiumin, TVXQ's Changmin and Red Velvet 's Seulgi.[6]
