Stuart R. Bell is an American academic. He serves as the President of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Early life

Stuart R. Bell was born in Abilene, Texas.[1] He graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering in 1979.[1] He received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the same university.[2]

Career

Bell started his career as an assistant professor of Engineering at the University of Alabama.[3] He then served as the Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas.[3] Later, he served as the Executive Vice President and Provost of Louisiana State University.[2][3]

He has served as the President of the University of Alabama since July 15, 2015.[1][3]

Personal life

He is married to Susan Bell.[1] They have two sons, Stuart and Stephen, and a daughter, Stacy.[1]
