Steven Geltz (born November 1, 1987) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Amateur career
Born in Newfane, New York, Geltz was raised in the small town of Ransomville, New York, whose population is a mere 1,400 inhabitants. Geltz attended Wilson High School in Wilson, New York. Only 5'9" as a senior in high school, Geltz was overlooked by many powerhouse NCAA Division I schools despite his talents as a pitcher, and attended University at Buffalo.[1]
Professional career
Geltz signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as an undrafted free agent in 2008 out of the University at Buffalo.[2]
Geltz was called up to the majors for the first time on August 10, 2012.[3]
Before the 2013 season, the Angels traded Geltz to the Tampa Bay Rays for Dane De La Rosa.
