Stanford-le-Hope railway station is a railway station located in the town of Stanford-le-Hope in the borough and unitary authority of Thurrock in the East of England.
It was opened in September 1854, and was initially called Horndon,[1] as part of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway when the railway was extended from Tilbury to Low Street (closed), terminating at Stanford-le-Hope until the next section of railway was opened a year later. Passenger train services are provided by c2c.
The station is on the railway linking Pitsea and Barking via Grays and Rainham known as the Tilbury Loop.
The original station was constructed to the north of London Road level crossing. The station was rebuilt during the 1960s immediately south of London Road. The former station site is now the station car park.
A £1Million redevelopment of the station is planned, to provide new passenger facilities and an improved bus turnaround at the front of the station.
