Staige D. Blackford

Staige D. Blackford (1931-2003) was the editor of the Virginia Quarterly Review.[1]

Blackford graduated from the University of Virginia in 1952 and was later a Rhodes Scholar.[2] He served as a press secretary for Virginia Governor A. Linwood Holton.[3] Among the writers he discovered at VQR was Robert Olen Butler, whose first short story he published.
